Grand Chief Stan Louttit “Real Agreement as Orally Agreed To – Treaty No. 9”
This is a presentation given by late Grand Chief Dr. Stan Louttit in the fall of 2013. This presentation is the chronicled history about the Treaty No. 9 that was signed in 1905. Grand Chief Louttit gave this presentation many times based on the oral history, consultations, extensive research that he developed with John Long, author of the book, Treaty No. 9. The presentation includes information from the diaries of the treaty commissioners that were not included in the agreement; the diaries cite oral promises that were not in the treaty.
Late Grand Chief, Dr. Stan Louttit was the grandson of Andrew Wesley who was involved in the treaty making discussion and signed the document on August 3, 1905. This presentation helps create a better and clearer understanding of why our people in the past and today are demanding the Spirit and Intent of the Treaties be honours and implemented.
